I am an artist and a nursing professional. I have pursued both vocations most of my life.
During my Nursing career, I have worked as a Registered Nurse, a Nurse Consultant and in a Clinical Nurse Specialist position.
In my art work, I explore human relationship and meaning through the use of symbols in a variety of media.
I use many different mediums, such as oil, clay, acrylics, pastels, water colour and ink. I paint, carve and sculpt.
I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.
Much of my subject matter is autobiographical. I tend to use symbol as a means of expression in much of my work .
I have been influenced by growing up on a farm in Saskatchewan and living and working in Alberta, Canada where I took post secondary education, worked and raised my family.
I have a strong work ethic and have a number of degrees and certificates in Nursing (and have worked in the areas of oncology, home-care, community health, palliative care and women's health) for more than 40 years.
I have pursued art since I was a child and completed a BFA from the University of Calgary.
